The Challenge

A mid-size manufacturing company with operations in the U.S. and Mexico needed a corporate website that served two audiences in two languages. Their existing site was a static HTML relic that only the original developer could update. Any content change - even fixing a typo - required a support ticket and a two-week wait.

The marketing team had grown frustrated. They wanted to publish case studies, update product specs, and post news without waiting on a developer. They also needed the site to work seamlessly in both English and Spanish, not as an afterthought with machine-translated pages, but as a properly localized experience for their Mexican operations and Spanish-speaking customers.

The Solution

We built a custom WordPress site designed around the marketing team's actual workflow:

  • Custom WordPress theme - Built from scratch (no page builders, no bloated theme frameworks). Clean, fast, and tailored to the company's brand. Every template was purpose-built for specific content types: products, case studies, team profiles, and news
  • Content management workflow - Custom post types and Advanced Custom Fields gave the marketing team structured, foolproof editing interfaces. No accidentally breaking layouts or fighting with a visual editor - just fill in the fields and publish
  • Multilingual with WPML - Full English and Spanish support with a proper translation workflow. Each page has a linked Spanish counterpart, and the language switcher remembers user preference. URL structure uses /es/ prefix for clean SEO in both languages
  • Product catalog - Custom post type with filterable categories, downloadable spec sheets, and related product suggestions. The marketing team can add new products without touching any code
  • Performance optimization - Custom theme means no unused CSS or JavaScript from a framework. Image optimization, lazy loading, and server-side caching keep load times under 2 seconds

What Made the Difference

The custom editing interfaces were the feature the client talks about most. Previous CMS experiences had left the marketing team wary - they'd used page builders that looked easy in demos but produced messy, fragile pages in practice. By building structured editing screens with labeled fields and live previews, we gave them confidence to use the site without fear of breaking something.

The multilingual implementation was the technical challenge that required the most care. Bolting translations onto an existing site usually results in a second-class experience for the non-primary language. By building bilingual support into the architecture from day one - shared templates, mirrored navigation, and language-aware URL structures - both versions of the site feel equally polished and intentional.
